Hong Kong Jockey Club Global Health Institute Joins WHO’s Global Sustainable Preparedness Support Network (GSPN)

8 January 2026

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Global Health Institute (HKJCGHI) is proud to announce its membership in the Global Sustainable Preparedness Support Network (GSPN), a World Health Organization (WHO)-led initiative dedicated to strengthening global health emergency preparedness and resilience.

Established following the landmark World Health Assembly Resolution WHA73.8 (2020) on enhancing preparedness for health emergencies, GSPN aligns closely with and supports the objectives set out in the G7 Pact for Pandemic Readiness. The network brings together governments, partners, and experts to help countries—particularly low- and middle-income nations—build sustainable health security capacities under the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005).

As part of this multisectoral network of more than 70 partners, HKJCGHI will contribute its expertise across critical technical areas, including:

  • Outbreak and Pandemic Preparedness

  • Public Health, Virology, and Diagnostics

  • Zoonotic Diseases and Emerging Viruses

  • Immunization and Surveillance

  • Epidemiology and Molecular Epidemiology

  • Health Economics and Disease Modeling

  • Immunology and Vaccinology

Joining GSPN reflects HKJCGHI’s strong commitment to global health security and collaborative action. Through this initiative, the Institute aims to build robust, sustainable systems that safeguard communities and reduce vulnerabilities long before the next crisis occurs.

GSPN underscores the vital role of scientific innovation and international cooperation in addressing emerging health threats. By sharing knowledge and resources, HKJCGHI envisions a future where all countries are better equipped to respond to pandemics and health emergencies.

Together, we look forward to shaping a safer, healthier future—one where global collaboration ensures that every country is ready to face tomorrow’s challenges.
