HKJCGHI Hosts Seminar on Immunity to SARS-CoV-2 and Related Bat Viruses

Hong Kong, 16 October 2025 – The Hong Kong Jockey Club Global Health Institute (HKJCGHI) successfully hosted a hybrid seminar titled “Immunity to SARS-CoV-2 and Related Bat Viruses Across Diverse Human Populations”, featuring Professor Ravi Gupta, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Professor of Global Health at the University of Cambridge and Co-director of HKJCGHI.
The event, held at The University of Hong Kong (HKUMed), attracted participants both in person and online via Zoom. Professor Gupta delivered an insightful lecture on the evolution of SARS-CoV-2 variants, mechanisms of vaccine escape, and the role of chronic infections in driving viral diversity. He also explored immunity patterns across different populations and the implications for pandemic preparedness.
This seminar underscores HKJCGHI’s commitment to fostering international partnerships and advancing research that addresses urgent global health challenges.
